Back to School - Elementary
As students are gearing up to head back to school, we would like to dedicate this post to our students and teachers. We wish you all the best of luck as you start a brand new year of school! Enjoy some digital scans of photographs we have in our archival collection.
c. 1874 - The Town Company Building on Main Street was built in 1873 to be used as McPherson’s Town Hall. The second floor was used as a one-room school. It cost $1500 to build. The building burned down in 1883. Students are lined up outside the building for a picture.
c. 1908 - Second grade class taught by Miss McKinzie. There are 32 total students in the photo. This was possibly East Side or Santa Fe School.
c. 1913 - McPherson First Grade Class. Photo belonged to Elmer Straham.
c. 1920 - 1930. McPherson Grade School students and teacher pose for a picture in front of the school.
c. 1925 - Fifth grade class and their teacher. McPherson Elementary School.
