How much does it cost to visit the museum?
Thanks to our members and donors, we are happy to say that admission to the McPherson Museum is FREE.
To help continue this, any freewill donation is greatly appreciated but is not a requirement for your visit.

When is the museum open?
Monday - Friday: 10AM - 5PM
Saturday: 1PM - 5PM
Closed Sundays and holidays

How long do people usually spend here?
The average person usually spends around 45 minutes to an hour to get through everything in our collection.

Do I need to check in?
No, we only ask that you sign our guest book when you arrive. We keep track of how many visitors we get and where they are traveling from. This helps us get funding by showing our museum’s outreach.

What exhibits does the museum have?
Our museum is an eclectic collection primarily featuring the history of McPherson and those who live there.
Some of our most popular exhibits feature Ice Age fossils, the McPherson Globe Refiners, the Quivira people, and a model train layout of McPherson.

What event spaces do you offer?
Our CHS Gathering Hall offers space for up to 100 people and is great for parties, receptions, meetings, and most events.
Our Expo Hall holds up to 125 people but is only available when not housing a traveling exhibit.

How much do your event spaces cost?
All of our rental spaces are priced on an hourly basis. Room layout including use of microphone, lectern, projector, and easel are included in the base room price.
Add-ons such as table linens, drink services, and bistro tables are available at added cost.

Do you do tours?
We do provide tours at no cost based solely on availability of our tour guide.

Can I donate items to the museum?
We frequently get donation offers from people both in and out of our community. Although we cannot take everything due to limited space, we will always take your offer into consideration whether it be archives, textile, or artifact.

Are the model trains running?
Yes! Our model train exhibit is a crowd favorite so we always keep an eye on them to make sure they are running as scheduled. If you encounter an issue with them while visiting, please tell a staff member and they will be fixed as soon as possible.

When was the McPherson Museum built?
The location we are currently in was built in 2013. The museum moved from the Vaniman house where it had been located since 1968.
